Foreword

I stride towards my opponent, the adrenaline is pumping, the butterflies in my stomach in a wild frenzy.... the ritual begins. Without eye contact my opponent and I test our weapons and then walk back to our en garde lines. We face each other and for a split second make eye contact as we deliver our salutes. I put on my mask and all is silent as I wait for the words...

'On guard' the referee says confidently.

I take a deep breath and assume the en garde position, my eyes now fixed on my opponent. My
heart beats violently, almost shaking my body...

'Ready', the referee says, a crescendo in his voice. My grip tightens ever so slightly, I bend my knees...

'Fence'

These three words still send a shiver down my spine whenever I hear them. That growing sense of anticipation, the feeling that you are about to step into the unknown. Those last few seconds before battle commences. To me, there is no other feeling like it. I started fencing at the age of eight and 23 years later I still get goose bumps every time I prepare for a match.

Fencing has always provided both structure and balance to my life and therefore setting up Little Musketeers was a very natural progression for me. I wanted to utilise my knowledge and experience and give something back to the next generation of fencers and help create the champions of tomorrow!

Little Musketeers - Brief Overview

Little Musketeers is a place where children from as young as 5 years of age can discover the exciting sport of fencing in a fun and safe environment. Our carefully designed classes offer a great balance of fencing activities and games to capture children's imagination. What child has not grown up pretending to be a swashbuckling pirate, a duelling Musketeer, or even the master of swordplay himself, Zorro? Why do they do it? Because it's fun!

Little Musketeers is run by Olympian and 4 times British National Champion, James Beevers. Under James' guidance and supervision franchisees will have the unique opportunity to learn and be supported by one of Britain's most successful fencers.

Fencing is extremely popular with children and proven to hold their interest and attention levels for longer than other mainstream sports. Our attractive bright coloured foam and plastic equipment is completely safe yet hard enough to give children the real feel of fencing. Our classes instantly appeal to a child's sense of play whilst providing a constant level of intellectual and physical stimulation. Little Musketeers classes are run predominantly as school clubs, either before, during or after the school day and school fun days for children as well as fencing sport camps during the holiday periods. Also, for all children who love to imitate their sword-fighting heroes we offer a number of swashbuckling themed birthday parties to suit every budget.
